BEAD & CHAT GROUPS
The NMBS is in the process of organizing weekday & weekend beading groups at the homes of members. There will be a group that meets on the NW and NE side of ABQ and another in Placitas. If you have signed-up to participate, a coordinator will be contacting you as to where, when, and what time the groups will meet. The groups will be posted on the website. Any member interested in attending will need to contact the coordinator for the group.
MAGAZINE SWAP
After the speaker’s presentation, come join in on the “Bead Magazine” Swap! After culling through the NMBS library, we thought it would be fun to share the beading magazines with our members. Each member will be to take 3 magazines home to browse through. The magazines are to be returned at the next meeting to be swapped for another three! Also, we encourage you to bring copies of your old beading magazines to swap as well.
CRAFT FAIR OPPORTUNITIES AND CREDIT CARD SERVICE FOR MEMBERS
The
board has discussed the possibility of participating in local craft and
arts fairs, and provide a credit card service for members. In order to
engage in this endeavor, we are looking for a business manager! The
business manager's responsibility would be to enter all credit card
purchases on a spreadsheet that would calculate each participating
members' sales and get those figures to the Treasurer for distribution.
ANYONE INTERESTED IN THIS POSITION? Contact
Geri Verble at gverb@earthlink.net or at the meeting on Monday. Also,
we would like to form a committee that would research craft and art
fair venues!
NMBS CRAFT PROJECT POLICY
The NMBS board has decided to archive the three group projects, which will become our initial foundation pieces that are displayed at exhibits and events the society participates in as representative examples. The group projects would then become property of the society to contribute to the community. These projects include the “Pretty Kitty” pillow, the “Highland Inheritance” loom work piece, and the “Green Goddess” seed bead necklace. We are planning to continually add to the group projects as part of an on-going effort to build a collection of NMBS exhibit pieces to for displayed in future exhibits.
