WHAT IS ARTS ALLIANCE?
Arts Alliance is part of the City of Albuquerque’s Cultural Plan, creating more artistic opportunities for the citizens of Albuquerque and creating more opportunities for Albuquerque’s artists to exhibit their work. Last year, NMBS submitted juried/award-winning designs to the Arts Alliance. We were selected to exhibit during the month of April.The New Mexico Bead Society will be hosting a “Wild About Beads” exhibit and sale with an opening reception and demonstrations, workshops, meetings, and beading occasions throughout the month.

Monday April 7 12-4 pm - Peyote & Brick Stitch Demonstration
Instructor: Ann Reilly. Ann will demonstrate peyote and brick stitch, using size 6 or 8 seed beads so the stitches are easily seen. Pattern books will be available for browsing to show the versatility of these stitches and, if available time, Ann will demonstrate how to do a peyote spiral.
Tuesday April 8 1:30-3pm - Navajo Wrap Demonstration
Instructor: Susan Ryan & Susan Hager. Together they will demonstrate an old Navajo method of finishing a necklace with wrapped string or threads instead of metal clasps.

1-3pm- Sparkly Spacer Technique
Instructor: Tricia Sutton. Tricia will demonstrate this technique for a bracelet, earrings and pendant. Tricia taught this popular class at one of the last Bead Renaissance classes.

Thursday April 10 1-2:30pm - Pearl Knotting Demonstration
Instructor: Elaine Weisman. A simple, continuous demonstration of the easiest and least expensive way of putting knots between individual pearls to prevent loss of the whole strand in case the string breaks.
Friday April 11 1-3pm – Polymer Clay Demonstration
Instructor: Cathryne Richards. Using Polymer clay and gold and silver leaf, Cathryne will show us how to create “pillow” beads used in necklaces and bracelets. These beads can be created in many shapes and colors – and using the leaf makes them look expensive. This demonstration will be two hours in length and you will learn to shape, sand and finish as well as create these fun beads.
Saturday April 12 10am-12pm-Wire Wrap Charms & Beads Demonstration
Instructor: Sandy Johnson. Learn how to turn beads, nuggets, and any other thing with a hole through it into a charm for a bracelet or a pendant for a necklace. Watch how a piece of wire, an eye pin or a head pin is twisted into a useful “bale” that can be affixed onto a chain link, earring wire, or attached to a neckpiece (chain, wire, cable, and ribbon) and worn. Written instructions and “hands on” instruction will be provided during this demonstration.

This class is for first time beginning stringers that would like to attempt creating their very own necklace! Beads, wire, and
a clasp will be provided! This class welcomes both adults, teenagers, and children with adult supervision.
