OCTOBER 2006 BEAD RETREAT

The first annual New Mexico Bead Society Bead Retreat was held Saturday, October 14, at the Howard Johnson's Conference Center. Fun was had by all! Participants included Carmen Martinez, Sandy Wilcox, Elaine Wells, Emily Holcomb, Deb Morrow, Evelyn Goodman, Sandy Johnson, Geri Verble, Sara Friedrich, Marcia Ronquillo, Francine Long, MaryAnn Cordova, Jan Bond, Wendy Taylor, Lori Curtis, Laurie Swift, Cathy Dunbar, and Elaine Weisman.
Local beading instructors included Eleanore MacNish, a professional lampwork artist and silversmith, and Margo Field, a noted professional instructor specializing in seed bead projects. Both instructors taught very creative and inspiring bracelet projects.
A very nice box lunch was catered by "Indulgences Catering" which included a very decadent chocolate brownie! All participants received a surprise gift bag. Gifts were donated from local bead stores to include Beaded Iris, Desert Rose, New Mexico Bead and Fetish, Sun Country Gems, New Mexico Bead Trader, and Mama's Minerals. Gifts were also donated from both instructors and bead member, Elaine Wells. A special drawing for a $100 gift certificate from Rio Grande went to Elaine Weisman!
